Job Summary
We are actively seeking physically strong, energetic, and highly reliable individuals to join our cross-dock operations team. As a Part-Time Dock Worker, you will physically load and unload trailers using manual and powered equipment, secure freight, and scan barcodes. You will serve as the operational engine, delivering the signature reliability that sets FedEx apart in the LTL shipping industry. This is an extremely physical role where you will work hard, operate heavy machinery, and stay fit while earning a solid paycheck.
Comprehensive Responsibilities
- Trailer Unloading: Work rapidly to unload incoming 53-foot trailers, utilizing forklifts and pallet jacks to move heavy, palletized freight safely to staging areas.
- Cross-Dock Sorting: Read freight bills and routing tags quickly to move pallets across the dock to their correct outbound trailers based on geographic zones.
- Outbound Loading: Safely and tightly stack pallets inside outbound trailers, utilizing straps, load bars, and dunnage to maximize space and prevent shifting in transit.
- Safety Adherence: Maintain a clean workspace on the dock, immediately resolving any spills or hazards, and strictly utilizing proper lifting and driving mechanics.
